Wat Enkosei

Although I lived very close to Wat Enkosei for almost three years, I had never visited the temple before. Imagine my surprise when I visited there last weekend and discovered a 1,000 year old Angkorian temple! With two main structures still standing, this is definitely a temple worth seeing. Better yet, it is free!

I was very disappointed on my visit however to see graffiti on the temples. Lately I have seen more and more people (particularly Cambodians) disrespecting these ancient temples, and it really does sadden me. They are incredibly lucky that their ancestors were able to build these structures to withstand time, yet not everyone truly appreciates it. I hope with more education about the temples will come more respect….or at least stricter management of the temples. I would hate to think that in 50 more years they would be gone.
