This is next on my reading list, a study on forced marriages during the Khmer Rouge regime.

My boyfriends mother and father were forced into marriage at the very same pagoda where Human and Hope Association used to be located. One day during the time of the Khmer Rouge, they were taken to the pagoda, not knowing each other, and married along with 60 other couples. My boyfriend thinks his mother was 18 at the time, but he isn’t quite sure.

It has not been an easy life for them as a couple (I won’t go into personal details on here), and I have always wondered if it was as a result of being forced into marriage. I can’t believe what sort of traumatic experiences people went through during the four-year regime, and to add forced marriage into the mix……..

This won’t be an easy read, but I am looking forward to seeing the case studies.
